ADC Blue Light Scanning Technology

At Advanced Design Concepts, we use cutting-edge blue light scanning technology that’s precise enough to capture the curves of something as delicate as a Pringle chip without ever touching the tasty snack. This non-contact process allows us to create highly accurate 3D models of even the most fragile or complex objects. Whether you need reverse engineering, quality inspection, or product development support, our technology ensures every detail is preserved while protecting your parts from damage.

We are celebrating the Milwaukee Brewers’ historic winning streak and the wonderful season underway. A couple of weeks ago, we found clever Pringles at our local grocery store. We conducted a taste test to determine which flavor wins as the best-tasting Limited Edition Milwaukee Brewers Pringles. The trio of chip tubes is offered in 3 clever flavors: Grilled Beer Brat, Beer Can Chicken, or Beer-Braised Steak.  Miller Lite beer is also a partner in the creative products.

For parts that do not have CAD data, scan data can substitute for tasks such as packaging design.

The chips could be inspected for size and form to prove out consistency in manufacturing. Not sure that happens quite like this in the food industry but, it does translate to manufacturing parts.

With proper coatings, light settings and equipment, anything from polished metal to glass to gooey sweet treats can be captured in high definition for reverse engineering and inspection. This Dubai chocolate brownie required a coat of white paint to highlight dark chocolatey areas for blue light scanning. A positive for data capturing. And a very unfortunate step in the process for the operator hoping to taste the delicious treat.

ADC receives requests for a variety of objects to be scanned.  You never know what is going to come through our door.  Here’s just a small list of some of the objects we have scanned and created CAD files for:

• Cadaver knees for medical device product development
• Fishing lures
• Airplanes
• Trucks
• Motorcycles
• Chairs
• Orthodontic equipment
• Jewelry rings
• Trophies
• Shoes
• Bottles
• Phones
• Antlers
• Marshmallows
• Cupcakes
• Candy
• Hand-carved woodwork
• Duck decoys

*The Pringle example is for illustrative purposes to demonstrate the power of scanning, reverse engineering, and inspection.
